About Me

“I wanna talk about me!”
I was born on June 17th, in San Francisco. My parents immigrated from Italy in the 50s, but the funny thing is, they met, and fell in love, here in America. My father came over at age 20, with his folks, and two younger brothers. He’s from a small Tuscany town named Capanori. When he arrived, he went right to work. First as a farm worker in Sacramento, later as a house painter. He gradually became accustomed to American life, but maintain his Italian roots, by becoming a member of the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club. That’s where he met mom.
My mother is the 6th child of a family of seven, and she grew up in a small town called Valstagna, in northern Italy. She came over in the late 50s, to help my aunt raise her two sickly children. Sadly, both my cousins died. Mama eventually returned to Italy. Because my aunt still needed her help raising her third child, mother returned to America. Mom started working as a waitress at the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club. The folks met, fell in love and got married. I eventually showed up.
I grew up in San Francisco’s Marina district. I went to catholic elementary school, Saint Vincent De Paul and a catholic, all girl high school, Presentation. For college I ended up at San Francisco State University. I majored in Broadcast Electronic Communication Arts (Radio & TV). I love old time radio programs.
Hobbies
I like to play tennis, volleyball, go hiking, especially in Yosemite . In the past have practiced karate (brown belt – Karate Do` Karate). I love to listen to big band and country music. I’m a former member of Sei Boku Bonsai Kai Club at the San Mateo Garden Center. I enjoy drawing and painting classes at the San Mateo Beresford Park and Recreation Center. I love classic movies, especially Jimmy Stewart films. My favorite is, “It’s A Wonderful Life”. Jimmy Stewart is also my role model and all time dream man.
My favorite pass time is hanging out with my two cats, Bea and Harry. I volunteer for the Peninsula Humane Society doing doggie TLC, walking and hanging out with a bunch of wonderful dogs.
Relevant Professional Experience
I have worked in several jobs where I have done updates to basic HTML pages. I worked for a year in the College of Health and Human Services at SF State as a Web and Online Form coordinator, where I coordinated all college web projects and consulted with departments to meet their web development needs. I also created and maintained college electronic forms and served as liaison between department coordinators and other university offices, providing departments with accurate information and improving communications across campus offices. Later, I worked as a Web Developer for America Online. I developed client-side coding (HTML, etc.). I was involved in creating new HTML pages based on mock-ups from designers, participated in major releases, edited configuration files, and fixed various bugs. I have taken classes in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, PowerPoint, and Excel. I have a bachelors degree in Radio and Television from San Francisco State. Now that I have completed my master’s in Instructional Technologies I am open to working as an instructional designer, user interface designer or trainer. I am most interested in designing instructional and technical manuals. Currently, I work as a Assistant Gift Processor and Data Integrity Coordinator for San Francisco State University and I volunteer as a Computer Basics instructor for the Village at the Crossing Senior Living Community.
